Man Waiting in The Emergency Room

I drew this tonight while waiting in the ER afer bringing my roomate to the hospital (don't worry he should be fine). The guy looked kind of tense and concerned, and I think I got that across in this sketch. It feels kind of invasive to draw someone with out there knowledge, but it makes for an interesting sketch, and I know that my intentions aren't negative in any way.

Portrait 2, rendered in adobe illustrator

I wanted this picture to have a kind of meditative/nature feel to it, it isn't finished yet, but I figured I'd post it anyway. I am also working on a couple more images that have a similar feel to them...

Winter Commute Snow Globe

I thought of this idea while stuck in traffic on my morning commute during the first snow fall of the year. Kind of sums up how I feel about winter, it looks nice, but it can be a real pain...
The face is suppose to be a reflection of someone looking at the globe, kind of a tough thing to pull off, and I don't think I nailed it 100%, but i think the idea gets across nonetheless.

Sketchbook, 12/9, Brazilian Restaurant

I was a bit hungover at the restaurant so this picture seemed appropriate.

Ha Long Bay, Vietnam 4/10/06

I drew this on a boat cruise in Ha Long bay Vietnam, this bay is famous for its huge rock formations, and is a UNESCO world Heritage site.

Luang Prabang, Laos 3/06

This is the living quarters for monks at a buddhist monastery in Laos. The Picture itself is only 3 x 5 inches, so yeah, it is hyper-detailed, and yeah, it took a reeeeaaaaaal long time to draw.

Hanoi, Vietnam 4/2/06

This is a buddhist offering at a temple in Hanoi Vietnam. The people would light incense sticks and place them on top as some sort of prayer. Like lighting candles in a church I suppose. I did this picture a lot quicker and looser than some of my other ones, and I think that worked.

Wat Banan, Cambodia 3/18/06

I drew this at a really caved in temple ruin outside of a small city in Cambodia. There were monks around, but I drew this guy from memory, it seemed a little awkward to ask him to stand there the whole time. While I was drawing a group of monks came by and asked me to be in a picture with them, which seemed pertty funny to me, I got a picture with them as well, I should post that up here...

Krabi, Thailand 2/06

Night scene on a beach. I think using cross-hatching was really effective for showing the night sky, but it definitely forced me to be really meticulous.

Angkor Wat, Cambodia 3/06

I drew this at the Angkor Wat temple complex in Cambodia. Rather than draw an entire temple I wanted to focus on some of the smaller, highly detailed reliefs that covered the exterior. I spent a while deciding on the composition, I wanted to show a balance between the figures and the small repitive symbols that were all over the structures.

Sketchbook, 11/29/06 African Bracelet

I really liked the colors that this bracelet had...
